Chloe: Facing the judges

Posted on Tuesday 17th May, 2016
Hi my name is Chloe, and this is my blog on the final auditions. I hope you enjoy this! My heart was beating fast and finally there was the audition room. This was the finals where they decide who goes into the main company and who goes into the touring company. It was great to meet new people, make friends and to build confidence. It was such an amazing opportunity performing in front of a panel: you get to know what it feels like to audition for a real West End show. It was such an incredibl…

Amari: Dealing with negativity

Posted on Tuesday 17th May, 2016
I started ballet when I was 4. I heard about LCB when a good friend Maddie was in Ballet Shoes 6 years ago. I was very excited for my first audition. Unfortunately I didn’t get in, but LCB invited me to join their boys only classes. LCB’s ballet for boys was great because I was around boys who actually like ballet, instead of boys who think it’s for girls. I have to be strong physically to have great elevation in my jumps and also so I can lift the girls, but people at school don’t always think …

Felix: Dancing in the aisles

Posted on Tuesday 17th May, 2016
I’m Felix and I’m 10. I only started ballet 18 months ago. Before I started lessons, I was dancing everywhere, even in the shopping aisles. I found out I could turn my light switch on with my toe and I was showing all my mum and dad’s friends and one of them said ‘You should start ballet.’ So I tried it. At first I got a little bit of stick from my friends but once they noticed that I loved it, they took it the right way. Now, I’m so proud to do ballet. When I got into LCB all my friends were l…

Callum: Dick the bootblack

Posted on Tuesday 17th May, 2016
Hello, my name is Callum and I’m 13. I only started ballet a couple of years ago and it was by accident. I had to watch my sister’s ballet class and I ended up joining in. Both me and my sister love to dance. In the beginning my mum almost didn’t let my sister do ballet because she was worried it would make her anorexic, but actually you have to be really fit to do ballet. I play football as well, and ballet definitely takes more energy! I’m the only boy doing ballet in our village school. We ha…

Ciara: Determination wins the day!

Posted on Sunday 24th April, 2016
Hi, my name is Ciara and I’m 14 years old. I auditioned for LCB five times, and at last this year I made it! The first four times I was given a place as part of the LCB2 touring company, which performs to people in special needs schools and care homes for the elderly. These people don’t have the opportunity or aren’t strong enough to come to the theatre to experience the awe of a ballet production, so it was really good to bring our ballet, our costumes and music to them. On tour I changed not …

Becoming Little Lord Fauntleroy

Posted on Wednesday 9th March, 2016
The first audition for Little Lord Fauntleroy had come! I had been waiting for this day since April 26th 2015 – the day Snow White ended. When I walked into the audition room, I felt so nervous seeing all the amazing dancers. I had never seen such a large group of boys at an audition before. This first audition was lots of fun, and I was delighted when I found out I’d got through to the second round. Two weeks later the second audition took place and I found it a lot more difficult. I tripped o…
