Ballet Workshops

To build upon the success of the Ballet for £1 programme, London Children's Ballet developed the Ballet Workshops.

Inner-London schools who attend the LCB performance as part of the Ballet for £1 programme are invited to apply for a follow-up ballet workshop. In these workshops, the LCB team of two dance teachers and a pianist come into the school for half a day. The workshop consists of a DVD of LCB dancers which introduces children to the basics of ballet (and recaps some highlights of the ballet the children have seen). This is followed by a ballet class in which children get to try out the steps they have just seen. The workshop also teaches children about how a performance comes together, showing costumes, music and props. LCB workshops are really hands-on, giving children the chance to try out ballet steps and also try on costumes and handle props.
